EW2 Cable Tunnel & Qatar Ø3.5 m TBM

Utility owners · Kawasaki Slurry & Herrenknecht TBM · Ø3.5 m (Qatar)

Overview

Not every tunnel carries trains. Singapore's EW2 cable tunnel — driven with a Kawasaki slurry machine — carries the transmission lines that power the island, while in Qatar a compact 3.5-metre Herrenknecht TBM drove utility bores beneath Doha.

Small-diameter tunnelling concentrates every challenge into less space: tighter logistics, harder interventions, less room for error. Our director Mohammad Zahirul Islam brought these drives home safely.

Scope of Works

  • Small-diameter slurry and EPB TBM operation
  • Confined-space logistics and interventions
  • Utility tunnel finishing works
  • Machine recovery from tight reception shafts
