Thomson–East Coast Line — T202

Land Transport Authority · Kawasaki TBM · Ø6.6 m

Overview

The Cross Island Line is Singapore's eighth MRT line and its longest fully underground corridor. Contract CRL105 features one of the largest tunnel boring machines ever deployed on the island — a 12.6-metre-diameter CREG slurry TBM driving a single large bore that carries both tracks.

Members of our team worked on the assembly, operation and maintenance of this mega-diameter machine. Operating a slurry TBM of this scale demands precise face-pressure management, disciplined ring-build quality and constant coordination between the surface slurry plant and the crew underground.

Scope of Works

  • Assembly support for the Ø12.6 m slurry TBM in the launch shaft
  • Mining shift crews — TBM operation and segment erection
  • Cutterhead maintenance and disc cutter replacement
  • Mechanical maintenance of shield and back-up gantries
