From launching the machine to casting the invert — and the general civil works in between — Zen Tunnel Engineering covers the full life of a tunnelling contract.

Main contractors keep control of their operations — we supply the seasoned TBM operators, mechanical superintendents, fitters, welders and tunnel hands who make the machine advance. Our people arrive certified, safety-trained and productive from day one.

Our leadership has assembled and dismantled more than 35 tunnel boring machines — Herrenknecht, CREG, Kawasaki, Mitsubishi, Robbins and STEC — up to 12.6 metres in diameter. We plan the lifts, manage the shaft logistics and hand the machine over ready to mine.

Production tunnelling is a rhythm: excavate, erect, grout, advance. Our crews have driven slurry and EPB machines through marine clay, mixed face and karstic limestone, keeping face pressure stable and ring quality high.

Between drives, machines must cross station boxes, rotate in cut-and-cover sections and re-launch on new alignments. We design and execute skidding, turning and re-launch operations safely and on programme.

Cutterhead interventions — whether in free air or under compressed conditions — demand disciplined, experienced hands. Our supervisors have led interventions across Singapore's toughest geology, replacing discs and repairing wear safely.

After breakthrough, the tunnel still has to become infrastructure. We cast inverts, first-stage concrete and in-tunnel structures with tight tolerances and clean survey control.

Zen Tunnel Engineering is a civil contractor at heart. Temporary steelwork, concrete structures, soil transportation and site logistics — the supporting works that keep a major project moving are part of our core offer.
