Kuala Lumpur's Klang Valley MRT drove tunnels through karstic limestone riddled with cavities and sudden water paths — ground so difficult it prompted the world's first deployment of Herrenknecht's variable-density TBM, able to switch between slurry and EPB modes at the face.
Our director Jasim Uddin served as assistant mechanical superintendent on the four-machine fleet, responsible for testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of these pioneering machines.
